May 30, 2010: The Strombo Show Playlist (& G12 Count Down)

The Strombo Show Playlist
[ Highlights & Excerpts section done. Full Playlist still to come! ] & G12 Count Down [ Complete.. & confirmed! ]:
May 30, 2010

[ UPDATE: June 03, 2010; 2:05am:
The Highlights & Excerpts section is up.. more or less. I haven't edited/reviewed it as well as I normally do, so hopefully there aren't any major glaring mistakes anywhere.

UPDATE: May 31, 2010; 10:06pm:
I managed to screw up and not click the right setting again and lost of bunch of hidden code. Blah. I'm kinda thinking that should be a universal setting for ALL posts. #JustSaying. This may take some time to re-do. Working on a template to make my life easier overall, but these things take time..

So.. the Highlights & Excerpts section may take a bit to complete. Damn.

Ok.. maybe sooner than expected.. I had bad insomnia and did a bit of ~1-2am coding.. just need to clean-up and edit, and make all pretty and such.. and it'll be up.. hopefully later on Tuesday-ish. (Make that Wed-ish, I need sleep!) I DO accept both hugs & kisses as thanks! And money.. but kisses are best ;)

Looks like the G12 Count Down is complete though. Someone sent me the one track I was missing.

And we now have official confirmation from The Strombo Show Website. It was updated on Tuesday morning-ish.. right after a visit was paid to this blog from someone at cbc.ca... Hmmmm...?! ;)

Thanks to everyone who has contributed & helped!

Enjoy! ]

NOTE: Yes, I am aware that I didn't do any post(s) from last week.
I did start one, several in fact, but never got any up and no playlist, etc. I'll see if I can remedy that this week, but the one thing I decided in doing this blog, etc.. is that it has to be fun for me, since it is just me doing it.. and I kinda don't get paid to do it... so I just do what I can, when I can!

Actually, I re-arranged my schedule A LOT for the week The Hour was here.. so I didn't have as much time this past week. If you don't like it.. you can offer to help. Or just live with it. So there. ;)

I was able to tag or note *MOST* of the tracks while listening to the show on Sunday, May 30th. I did listen 2 times this time 'round.. surprising as I had a mega headache at the start of things & going in to start hosting the chat session, etc and was not sure I'd last at all.

Also.. since I was hosting the chat session & we had a few new people stop by, I may have missed a few tracks there.. and I was majorly distracted by (and LMAO at) Darby & George's chat (#ThankGodForTheLeftNipple!) which seriously took me off into some tangents today.. (wonderful and awesome.. but still tangents). LOL.

And I was was deeply entranced listening to the great Rob Zombie interview that I think I may have missed some stuff there too. But as I said above, there will be as full/complete list as soon as I can get it up!

Since no one has complained.. and well.. since I'm in charge here...
I'm sticking with the color-coding of all tracks played on the show in:
Blue and Bold!
They sure seem easy to view/find/read on the page with all the other notes. Hope that helps! Feedback welcome!

Any Errors and/or Omissions are as always.. totally my fault!
IF.. you have any corrections or info that I'm missing, please comment (or ping me) & I'll update the blog list!

Commenting here is the best way if you have any suggestions, corrections, or track listing info for the playlist or the blog!
Thanks. Enjoy.

Feedback, comments, notes, etc are ALWAYS welcome!

And please note.. the G12 Count Down is now posted up on
The Strombo Show Website
. Just about mid-week-ish, like I always say! Although.. they haven't numbered the tracks they put up.. but they match what I have here, so I think we're safe.

However, I was told by one of the producer types of the show that they are updating the website/server. That was kinda ages (read weeks) ago, so I'm hoping they can get it up to date soon.. and a month ++'s worth of the show's streaming "web-casts" would be awesome too (hint, hint)..

I'm going to try and continue putting the previous weeks (May 23, 2010 in this case) G12 in-line at the song's last position on the chart (not in a different color, yet) for comparison.. but I'll see if I have that list complete somewhere first, since I'm missing my own post from last week that I usually steal from!

And.. I decided that the list being 1-12 here instead of 12-1 like it is on the show and in the full playlist hurts my head, so I'm changing it to the proper order of things. Hope that's ok with everyone?!

G12 Count Down ~ May 30, 2010
[ My NOTEs in italics ]

G12 - #12: Kings Go Forth - I Don't Love You No More
Last week #12: Love Is All - Bigger Bolder

[ What a lovely and funky start to the show & to the G12 Countdown this week.
Kings Go Forth mySpace: http://www.myspace.com/kingsgoforth, but the track "I Don't Love You No More" is not up there.. (at least when I last looked).
However, there is also an excellent review over at our friends Pitchfork.com: Album Review - Kings Go Forth - The Outsiders Are Back ]

G12 - #11: Voyager One – 1,000 Miles, 1,000 Deaths
Last week #11: Roky Erickson (feat. Okkervil River) - Goodbye Sweet Dreams

[ Bunch of other songs here.. ]

[ NOTE: BTW... George, Darby.. Yah.. Again. Mega thanks from The Strombo Show Chat Fan Crew for keeping #10 countdown track intro w/The Count! We SO ♥ it. ]

[ George you were pretty hesitant to collect your thank-you hug for this at the show Wed night in Van. I can't imagine you were actually scared of me... I don't bite. Ok.. well.. maybe I do... BUT only if you ask VERY nicely.. and it's fully consensual.. and I don't leave marks where anyone can see them.. as I prefer the same ;) Haha.. Sigh.
I am kidding.. well.. mostly. But we are all very thankful for The Count.. Personally he kinda makes my Sunday night! ]

G12 - #10: Ten Bears - Braces
Last week #10: The National - Lemonworld

[ Bunch of other songs here.. ]

G12 - #9: Band of Horses - Dilly
Last week #9: Kele - Rise Up

G12 - #8: Broken Social Scene - Texaco Bitches
Last week #8: The Flatliners - Carry The Banner

G12 - #7: Zeus – (The) Renegade
Last week #7: Cocorosie - Lemonade

[ I hunted about only a wee bit and couldn't find much for Zeus in a cursory look, but I did find this, so you can at least have a listen if you liked them. Last.FM: Zeus – The Renegade ]

G12 - #6: Gord Downie - The Hard Canadian
Last week #6: Plants & Animals - Tom Cruz

G12 - #5: LCD Soundsystem - Somebody's Calling Me

[ Maybe it's just me.. but I'm not really feeling the whole LCD Soundsystem latest.. ]
Last week #5: NAS & Damian Marley - The Promised Land

G12 - #4: The Chemical Brothers - Swoon
Last week #4: Mike Snow - Billy Holiday

[ Bunch of other songs here.. ]

G12 - #3: Mark Ronson - Bang Bang Bang (Feat. Q-Tip & MDNR)
[Mark Ronson mySpace: http://www.myspace.com/markronson ]
Last week #3: The Hold Steady - The Sweet Part Of The City

G12 - #2: Shad - Rose Garden
Last week #2: M.I.A. - XXXO

G12 - #1: The Black Keys - Everlasting Light
Last week #1: Midnight Masses - Walk On Water

[ Updated! Correct now. I hope.
Thanks to @kelgura on Twitter for identifying "Mark Ronson - Bang Bang Bang" as the G3 for me. Not sure what I heard, but it was not that.. (I heard Q-tip or something, which seriously could not have even been close) and I listened to the track in his mySpace (listed above) and I don't recall it at all.. so as usual the Final G12 Countdown is pending confirmation from the mother ship.. I mean.. The Strombo Show Website :)

Oh. My. Gods. I was right... I did hear Q-Tip. How seriously weird is that. There's some rap artist, or should I say... "arTisT" dude named Q-Tip. LMAO. Really? Really?! Hmmm... I must investigate. Rap is not my zone.. but this.. this is EFFing funny. ]

[ NOTE: That's the best I've got ATM on the missing tracks. Please comment if you have anything I missed! TIA (That means "Thanks In Advance".. in case you're not on up on your acronyms).

I'll have a chance hopefully sometime in the next few days to have a listen to the missing tracks to get the rest of the correct info up. ]

[ Interesting notes on the G12 Countdown...

I was looking back at old playlists for various reasons.. (actually finding minor mistakes & correcting them.. as I'm particular that way ;) and I noticed a few things...

1. What the hell happened to NAS & Damian Marley's song(s).. they just vanished out of the blue from the count down?

2. Where on earth did this weeks #1 come from? Don't get me wrong.. I like "The Black Keys - Everlasting Light" and all.. but it came in from outta thin air.. as did last weeks.. "Midnight Masses - Walk On Water". Just wondering.

3. Roky Erickson (feat. Okkervil River) - Goodbye Sweet Dreams was #11 back on May something (getting the date later) and then vanished from the countdown.. unless my records are wrong.. then re-appeared. George.. I know you don't do drugs.. but have your sound engineers been hot-boxing you w/out you knowing it or something?

4. There are a whole bunch more G12 anomalies I noticed.. but I have to go look at those old playlists again for comparison.. and it's late (well early morning) and I should try that sleeping thing here. ]

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
See above in UPDATE section.
But apparently I lost my code again. More sighing. So.. I'll get it up when I can.. since it seems I'll be re-doing a WHOLE bunch of work..
But I'm actually doing a template now & back to coding in Notepad like a good old school coder that I am, so that should remedy any further code "accidents".
I'll get: The Strombo Show Playlist: May 30, 2010 (Highlights & Excerpts) section up as soon as I can!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ok.. the (Highlights & Excerpts) sections is done!

The Strombo Show Playlist: May 30, 2010 (Highlights & Excerpts)

~ I'm still working on the rest of the FULL playlist/"Embedded" layout like I did before...

But I really liked this section for more of the comments, etc. So I'm keeping it.

I've decided that it will be on-going.. (since it's a nice way to do the list up in 3 different "posts"/updates/phases as well..)
1. Get the G12 up likely Sunday night/Monday morning.
2. Update with: The Strombo Show Playlist: (Highlights & Excerpts) section.
3. Update with: The Strombo Show Playlist Complete w/G12 "Embedded"
Hope you like this format too.. comments are welcome!

[ There are actually a ton more comments, links, etc that I had either in here before when I lost that code or wanted to include, but I also decided to just get up what I had and add it in later if I can.. there is always more to share! ]

We had the following snippets from Sunday..

~ NO Bob Mackowycz this past Sunday. :(
[ We had no Bob segment on the show this week again.
I believe he was away sick or something, so best wishes in getting well and hope to see him back over the next few shows. ]

Metallica - Master of Puppets
[ This is one of the reasons I so ♥ The Strombo Show.. hearing old Metallica on the radio.

It takes me back my teens where I'd stay up late listening to MegaWatt Mayhem on CJSW! (Links to come!) ]

[ A whole big block of G12 Tracks were here.. like 6 in a row. I only mention it because it was a bit odd to have so many grouped together. Just when I think I have George's "system" figured out, he changed it on me. If I didn't know better, I swear he does it to drive me crazy ;) ]
G12 - #9: Band of Horses - Dilly
G12 - #8: Broken Social Scene - Texaco Bitches
G12 - #7: Zeus – (The) Renegade
G12 - #6: Gord Downie - The Hard Canadian
G12 - #5: LCD Soundsystem - Somebody's Calling Me
G12 - #4: The Chemical Brothers - Swoon

David Bowie - The Jean Genie
INXS - Don't Change

[ INXS on The Strombo Show. One word. Awesome! ]
Pavement - Date With IKEA
Nightwatchman - The Road I Must Travel

[ Ten o'Clock With Tom: Was actually more like 9:44pm with Tom.. but who's keeping track ;) ]

~ Ten O'Clock with Tom: Tom Waits - Come On Up To The House

[ And what better time to fit in a little good old real country in than here.. ]
Merle Haggard - More Than My Old Guitar
[ George talks a bit with Rich shortly after this about how he is such a city boy, but how growing up in the country changes your connection and experience of country muisc..

This I know.. this I can relate to very well..having grown up in a very rural setting until just before I was a teenager. However, the "country" music I grew up listening to on a ranch.. that my parents played.. you didn't think of it as country music.. it just was music.. like the Merle Haggard tune here.. it just was.. and I remember it well. ]

Neil Young - Only Love Can Break Your Heart

~ Rich's Picks:
[ Yah for Rich's picks.. #GoodTimes! ]

Rich's Pick #1: Fred McDowell - Bull Dog Blues
[ Ohhhh.. Delta Blues make my night, day, whatever.. so glad to hear them. There are so many amazing artists out there.. and they are still churning out strong from the south. ]
Rich's Pick #2: Marty Robbins - The Master's Call
[ Loving that Marty Robbins keeps getting played here.. Although I do wish I had a record player so I could play my Marty Robbins record. ]
Rich's Pick #3: Marlene Dietrich - Look Me Over Closely
[ There were a few interesting comments made in the chat session on Sunday night..
1. Someone initially thought that it was George playing these songs, not Rich, and made a comment that there might be hope for George yet. Lol. Whatever that means.. but then again, not everyone has such diverse musical tastes. I.e. I like *almost* everything played, but there are few places where I shake my head. But even if I don't "like" it per se, I can deal with it and/or appreciate it.
The 2nd. comment was also something that I saw someone make on one of the FB postings.. is that they were wondering if sometimes Rich is just f*cking with us.. with his song choice(s). I say no. He really is just that diverse, and strange, and awesome. Kinda like George is. Thanks boys. ]

[ I actually accidently tagged the #3 opening song.. it's a real song!
I didn't know this.. cool.. But note.. it's not a part of the actual song listing for the day.. even thought it's in blue.. ]

Bob Dorough - Three Is The Magic Number

[ The G12 Tracks in the middle of things.. ]
G12 - #3 - Mark Ronson - Bang Bang Bang (Feat. Q-Tip & MDNR)
G12 - #2: Shad - Rose Garden
G12 - #1: The Black Keys - Everlasting Light

~ Rob Zombie Inteview:
(& Takeover.. sorta? Well, not really.. but there were a few requests played)

[ BTW... there are those 2 "posts" up on
The Strombo Show Website
(or was it on the FB page.. I'll have to double-check later) but for sure over at CBC Radio 2 Strombo Program Section:
Your Strombo Take Over Playlist? (by Li Robbins).

Check them out.. make a comment, etc.. Like I said.. I think there is also a place on the Strombo FB page (link to come) as well to make comments.

Personally.. I'm finding it a bit too much.. too many places for such things. Just pick one.. or get your website updated already George to handle such things, in one central place! But.. that's just my opinion.. ]

[ George started off playing a few tracks from Rob Zombie to get us in the mood... ]

1st Song: Rob Zombie - Mars Needs Women
2nd Song: Rob Zombie - Sick Bubblegum
3rd Song: Rob Zombie - Thunderkiss 65

[ Sadly... George did not play my favorite Rob Zombie song.
Oh wait.. how could he know.. Actually.. he could as I'm quite sure I've emailed a litany of requests some time ago including this one.
In case he missed any of those emails.. I'll say it here. "Dragula" would be nice sometime, or any of the other requests I've made.. :) ]

Rob Zombie picks - #1: The Allman Brothers Band - Ramblin' Man
Rob Zombie picks - #2: Elvis Presley - Burning Love

[ Gotta love that you can hear Elvis on The Strombo Show.. and not just any Elvis.. deep burning love Elvis.. ]

Slipknot - Spit It Out
[ George played a song from Slipknot (for Slipknot?), with their sad, sad recent loss. ]

~ "Album Side": The Rolling Stones - Exile On Main Street

[ Last song on side 3 first.. ]
The Rolling Stones - Let It Loose

[ Then Side 4. ]
Album Side #1: The Rolling Stones - All Down The Line
Album Side #2: The Rolling Stones - Stop Breaking Down
(Robert Johnson)
Album Side #3: The Rolling Stones - Shine A Light
Album Side #4: The Rolling Stones - Soul Survivor

[ The end.. of the "Album Side". ]

~ The "Big Lie-Down"

[ As far I can recall.. we went straight from the "Album Side" into the "Big-Lie Down".

Actually.. George went right to the midnight hour AGAIN this time.. barely squeezing in the last 3-5 tracks of the show.
]

From the "Big Lie-Down" segment of the show:

[ Intro/Background Music (taking us to the collective horizontal) ]

Spiritualized - I Didn't Mean To Hurt You

[ And Spiritualized was sorta part of The Big Lie-Down. I think.
It was hard to tell since the Pink Floyd (intro) music played again here. ]

Song #1 (The Big Lie-Down): Mogwai - R U Still In 2 It
[ I would LOVE to hear the interview George was talking about with regards to Mogwai. ]

Song #2 (The Big Lie-Down): Billie Holiday - God Bless The Child
[ Oh.. Billie Holiday.. not my favorite song by her.. but hearing her just makes my heart open up a little bit more every time! So Beautiful. ]
Song #3 (The Big Lie-Down): Metric - Love Is A Place
Song #4 (The Big Lie-Down): Thursday - i1100

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
[ That's all for now.. lots more to come to finish filling the final playlist out. Hopefully I can get it done before the end of the week! ]
Thanks for your patience all!
Enjoy.
The Strombo Show Chat Blog's Contest Outcome
The Strombo Show Chat Blog's Contest Outcome
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

UPDATE: May 20, 2010; 2:32pm:

~ Ok.. well.. just a mini-update. My best-est buds Evi & Mark & I went to The Shark Club after the show to see Billy The Kid perform & get some food -> Food ok, was starved tho.. Billy The Kid was good.. but paid $6 cover to hear the SAME 3 songs she performed earlier at The Hour. REALLY!? Kinda lame. Shark Club's not really my scene overall... maybe when there's hockey on.. and no cover.. and not on a rainy Wed night.. ok.. I'm reaching here.

Then.. went "clubbing" on Granville Street after The Shark Club.
First time EVER (in ~4yrs this fall in Vancouver) in a bar/club Granville, possibly my last.. although kinda entertaining in a twisted sort of way. We went to Tonic as Evi know's one of the DJ's & door staff.. so NO COVER! SO not my scene either.. but very, Very, VERY funny. Got some SUPER laughs in at boys 10+ yrs my junior thinking they actually had a chance.. ROFLMAO!

My "lil sis" Evi & I literally had a dance floor of guys at our feet.. I mean literally.. granted her & I were up on a dance riser.. but a crowd of hot young men worshiping at your feet whilst dancing isn't the worst way to end an evening.. IF only they could figure out.. #IamDancingForMyselfNOTforYou!! Honestly.

If we had put notches on the wall.. let's just say we stopped counting at ~37.. it was just too much. And the guy who stood at my feet & yelled "Go, Go, Go.." "Yeah Baby Go.." for like 10+ mins... I have NO words for how funny it was. I just about fell off the riser I was laughing SO hard. As I said to Evi.. not sure what he hoped it would achieve by yelling that at me while I was dancing.. #GoodTimes!

So glad I don't drink, etc.. but a few of the guys thought my Fisherman's Friends I kept taking to deal with dance floor fog/smoke was "something else". Gosh.. such fun to mess with young minds.. LOL. I should behave.. shouldn't I? Nah.

BUT.. you all want to hear about The Hour taping & George, etc.. I'm actually still processing it all in my head. Lots of great things to tell.. and SUPER embarrassing things.. like the contest to spell George's last name.. Stroumboulopoulos backwards..

I type the freaking thing SO often.. I had it, but was picturing it in my mind in "chunks" the same way I spell it foward, then reverse.. so what is the first letter out of my mouth but "L" as I was seeing LOS in my head.. (How I see it.. when I think/see/read it forwards anyways: Stroum--boul--(l)op--(p)oul--(l)os..) So backwards..
(I totally typed "L-OS" again first.. just so you know..)
S-O-L-U-O-P-O-L-U-O-B-M-U-O-R-T-S. I did it THIS time w/out looking.

Sigh. So much for winning swag.

Duncan (Twitter link to come later).. the audience/floor manager.. totally razzed me after. I'm such an idiot. I had that. (Think I was getting rather hypoglycemic by that point)... and we still had 1+ hr wait after the show to chat with George.. little did we know.

OH YAH... The Contest.. LOL.
Meeting our contest winner Rae was rad. We all had a blast.. we even figured out we "know" some of the same people.

We had a wicked time hanging out in line, trading stories, eating cookies.. (I brought some to send back to Toronto for Darby - producer of The Strombo Show, Jeff - The Hour Audience guy, & Nicole the website goddess over at The Hour.. and Lexi.. G's publicist who made sure I got tix in the first place. Oh.. yah.. AND some for George too ;) watching the taping, etc..

LAUGHing our asses off during the taping of Sedins.. if you hear muffled laughter/gasping in the audience after Henrik said "We like to play with each other.. " that's Evi & I trying to not LaughOutLOUD.. tears streaming down our faces.. my hand was actually over my mouth, face stuffed in my lap, sucking air in, desperately thinking in my mind.. "It's live, don't laugh, it's live, don't laugh, they'll hear you.. IT'S LIVE, DON'T LAUGH!!!

Other cool stuff.. the staff at @CBCVancouver were BEYOND awesome. Shout-outs to Leo & Tiffany (I think I have that right.. we think we "may" have gone to SFU doing Kinesiology together.. SMALL world)! And Duncan.. we had a good laugh at my idiotic spelling attempt after & turns out he's in the West End not far from me.. invites to Strombo Show Listening Party(s) all around! And John the "security" guy.. such a big hug-gable bear! LOL.

And of course.. the lovely Lexi.. we had a great chat & she is such a doll for making sure we got some time to chat with George (you missed out Rae). We were having a wee dance party in the corner of the meet & greet studio.. while we were waiting.. we were bored.. there was music.. so we were DANCING.. of course. That's just how we roll.

Got a poster... yes there is a signed (sigh) poster of George on my bedroom wall NOW.. (pics later..) AND a water bottle signed.
But forgot.. YES.. TOTALLY FREAKING FORGOT forgot to get ANY pictures with him.. duh.

Anyway.. more laters. I'm still sleep deprived & must do something productive with my day now!

AND.. Going to watch the Habs at the #HabsTweetup at the Lion's Pub.. 888 West Cordova St.

See you there.. maybe? Hope so.. I'll have more cookies!
Game Time: 4pm!

GO HABS GO!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just a super quick update here as I'm flying around trying to get stuff done so my afternoon is clear for The Hour & George!
OMG. I can't wait.. I'm coming outta my skin.
So.. we have a contest winner: Rae is the lucky person coming with me on my guest list along with my best buds Evi & Mark to the taping of The Hour tonight!
Congrats Rae!
More details later.. or I'll update this post with info on how the taping, etc went.
Woot!
The Strombo Show Chat Blog's First Contest! Yah! [ Contest to get a Ticket to come to The Hour May 19, 2010 with ME! ]
Ok..
The Strombo Show Chat Blog's Having Our FIRST Contest!
Contest to get a Ticket to come to a taping of The Hour with ME! (and George will be there.. of course..)
[ Caption: Top of Grouse Mountain...looking for Bears ]
[ Picture Credit: From George's publicist Lexi on her Twitter account @lexipatha
Gosh he is looking rather hot there. #Swoon! ]
No guarantees on meeting George tho.. there are A LOT of crazed girls in Vancouver with serious high school crushes on this man (myself included.. but I digress.. ;)
I'm sad, but also kind of excited, as I just found out I have spare ticket (under my name) to the taping of The Hour here in Vancouver tomorrow, Wednesday, May 19, 2010.
My good friend (and also AWEsome local TV personality) Steve Dotto (you may recall his super show Dotto Tech) is unable to make it since he is out of town at a speaking gig (very sad)... He left this morning. SO.. he won't be able to come with me and that means I just found out I have this extra tix.
What to do.. What to do... well.. I could be a good girl & email Jeff; The Hour Audience Coordinator dude (SUCH a sweetheart :) & give my ticket back.. BUT no.. that's crazy stuff... Plus.. it's late in Toronto now & he's probably gone home.. so I'm making my own rules up instead!
So..what I am going to do is give this ticket away to one lucky
The Strombo Show
and The Hour FAN..
This is what you have to do to win (full details below):
I want you to comment on this lovely fan blog for The Strombo Show (technically the 1st post is here: Welcome to the Strombo Show Chat Blog!) and/or RT the post given below on Twitter (to promote the contest) to get a chance to enter into the draw for that lonely & seriously exceptionally rare ticket (I heard the waitlist was/is 1000+).
Some pics below (at the end) from some Twitter folk about how busy it was there for today's Tuesday, May 18th, 2010's taping (like right now)!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Rules are simple.. sorta:
1. You have to be in Vancouver..
(kinda obvious since the taping is here.. but have to say it)!

2. You have to be available for the Wednesday, May 19, 2010 (tomorrow) taping of The Hour.

Deets: Audience arrival time is 5:30-6:00 p.m.
ROFLMAO. Ummm... People showed up much earlier than that to line up today. I'm gonna be there like 3:30-4pm-ish.. even tho I know I have tickets & I'm pretty sure I've been VIP'd.. Quite likely anyway. Hell.. I better be! If you show up later.. there is NO guarantee that this lovely ticket can be held for you. #justSaying.

3. You have be cool. This goes w/out saying. But I'm saying it :)
[ I.e. Hands off the G man.. that boy is mine! Oh wait.. that isn't really a rule.. more like a pirate guideline.. You know.. etiquette towards the person who got you the ticket.. (as in I get 1st dibs... IF there is such a thing w/that boy).. that is all I'm saying here ;). ]

UPDATE: May 19, 2010; 1:21am
4. Changing the Contest Entry Cut-off to 8:38am
(which gives it 12 hrs then.. which is A LOT fairer than like ~5-6ish) and.. I'm baking cookies & going to bed shortly here, so I'll deal in the AM. Actually tired for a change. #TooMuchExcitement!
4. Contest Entry Cut-off is 2:22am (b/c I'm a night owl..)

I'll figure out some random way to determine who has won & contact you. If you are on Twitter.. make sure to include your Twitter tag/handle.. and be sure to include a contact email either way.

I'll email the winner hopefully sometime ~9am-ish
I'll email the winner hopefully sometime before ~3am, or in the morning as I'm mostly unavailable tomorrow & then off to the taping as early as I can get there!

I'll be checking in via Twitter & email, when I find wifi on my journeys around town tomorrow. Though if the winner needs to reach me: StromboShowChat(AT @)gmail(DOT .)com
(I just set it up, as Dammit. I needed a dedicated Strombo Show Chat email address already)!

I've been looking at doing some polls on The Strombo Show (Fan) Chat Blog.

1. Make a topic suggestion for the new poll(s), or a few.

2. Give feedback on the layout of the blog:
I.e.: I've been playing with layouts for the posts of the playlists on the blog and have been posting those more regularly than anything else since The Strombo Show Website is a bit behind. (Granted, they are out here this week & they've been working on server upgrades to handle hosting the MASSIVE bandwidth for the streaming "web-casts" of the radio show).

[ I heard from a little bird on Twitter today named Darby.. haha.. that this past Sunday, May 16th's webcast should be up streaming tomorrow sometime! Here's hoping! Fingers crossed. ]

Here are a few of the past playlists up to refer to for examples/ideas.. (this past week's full listing *may* be up tonight, but I think I'm baking cookies for the show tomorrow instead, so later in the week)!

May 16, 2010: The Strombo Show Playlist (& G12 Count Down):

http://stromboshowchat.blogspot.com/2010/05/march-14-2010-strombo-show-playlist-g12.html

And older ones. I have ~15-20 older playlists I'm working on eventually getting up.. so this feedback is really critical so I can have a consistent layout/template/format that is most useful, appreciated, easy to read, etc when I start posting ALL these older ones eventually.. over time..!

The Strombo Show Playlist: November 8, 2009:
http://stromboshowchat.blogspot.com/2009/11/strombo-show-playlist-november-8-2009.html

3. And if the playlists don't grab you.. come up with something else that's cool.
I.e.: I'm working FAQs for the Skype chat.
Info here: How to Sign-up: Strombo Show Chat on Skype

4. OR come up with topics for the discussion:
Discussion Topics for The Strombo Show Chat(s):
http://stromboshowchat.blogspot.com/2010/03/march-28-2010-discussion-topics-for.html

5. Other:
And I was doing chat summaries from The Strombo Show (Fan) Chat on Skype, but I got behind on that doing the playlists.. if that interests you.. say why, etc..
I.e.:
Strombo Show Chat Summary ~ April 25, 2010 *Repeat of March 14, 2010 show* (incomplete):

Strombo Show Chat Summary ~ March 28, 2010:
http://stromboshowchat.blogspot.com/2010/03/strombo-show-chat-summary-march-28-2010.html

That's lots of examples.. if there is something else cool you want to suggest or comment on .. do it!

Keep it clean. Keep it constructive.
Thanks!

PS: You don't really have to hang with me & my 2 other awesome friends coming.. it's all cool.

Just hoping to make someone's day with this contest idea.. and get some great feedback on the blog, etc...

And come play with us in The Strombo Show (Fan) Chat on Skype on Sunday's...if you dare.

May 16, 2010: The Strombo Show Playlist (& G12 Count Down)

The Strombo Show Playlist [ Still to come! ]
and G12 Count Down [ Mostly complete, missing a few.. Help?! ]: May 16, 2010

[ UPDATE: May 18, 2010; 3:04am:
~ (Highlights & Excerpts) section is up!
Whoa.. and Whew. That was A LOT of work re-doing that whole section of code I lost. Figured it was kinda, sorta my fault. It was a setting on the blog regarding how the HTML is rendered.. but I'm so sure I would've had it "show the HTML literally" as I prefer pure code ALL the way!

I may working on putting a ToC (Table of Contents) in as well at the top of these posts.. eventually w/the in-page links.. since these posts get so flipping long.

Enjoy! ]

[ UPDATE: May 17, 2010; 3:31pm:
~ Added some links for the bands, mySpace for Plants & Animals, Guilty About Girls -> SO GOOD!!! Mega old school.. loving ANGL as well.. I wanna go dancing to these guys!

Honestly.. I had to STOP listening to them when cleaning this post up, as I was getting totally distracted wanting to dance around & spin poi. Now.. that is s a good thing.. except when ya have work to do!!!

Other minor stuff:
~ Corrected spelling of Damian Marley in the G12 (oops.. my bad, late night typing mistakes!)
~ Haha.. George needs to speak clearer.. I heard the album for The Lights as Failed Grades, but it's Failed Graves.. lol.. corrected.

~ And completely stressed out as I had The Strombo Show Playlist: May 16, 2010 (Highlights & Excerpts) section completely done in HTML hidden comment code & IT IS NOT THERE. WTF?! I'm kinda cranky about this development.. If it's b/c I published this post & lost ALL of that work.. oh.. BlogSpot.. you are in serious, serious trouble!

So.. it'll be a bit before I can get the rest of that work up again.. Sigh. Patience. Yah.. that's it.. ]

I was able to tag or note *MOST* of the tracks while listening to the show on Sunday, May 16th. Only listened one time (less than nerdy..I know ;) as I was watching the #Habs hockey game earlier.
(Sigh. We Believe. ONLY Game 1!)

Also.. since I was hosting the chat session as well, and it was busier in the PST timezone since almost everyone stopped by later.. I may have missed a few as I do get distracted at times. But as I said above, there will be as full/complete list as soon as I can get it up!

Starting in the last post (and I'll back-track in time to the older posts over time), all tracks played on the show are in:
Blue and Bold!
So they are easy to view/find/read on the page with all the other notes. Hope that helps! Feedback welcome!

Any Errors and/or Omissions are totally my fault!
IF.. you have any corrections or info that I'm missing, please comment or ping me & I'll update the blog list!
Thanks. Enjoy.

Feedback, comments, notes, etc are ALWAYS welcome!

And please note.. the G12 Count Down is usually posted up on
The Strombo Show Website
about mid-week-ish!

However, George & a few of his producers types are out in Vancouver this week doing The Hour, so I'm hoping they can still get it up.. and this show's streaming "web-cast" would be awesome too (hint, hint).. as I know A LOT of people missed the show this Sunday, with having to pick btwn music & the Habs playing hockey (and hockey won most of the time).

Plus.. there were A LOT of Band of Horses fans out there chopping at the bit (pun intended ;) over the interview & takeover segments..

I'm going to try and put last weeks (May 09, 2010) G12 in-line at the song's last position on the chart (in a different color, per a suggestion from Sarah [@oldschoolgirl] a long time Strombo Show Chat participant & big fan of the show!) for comparison.. and see how that goes..

I may not get it in right away tho.. need to figure out the color palette options that'll work.. so for now.. same color.. hope it doesn't hurt your heads too much!

I keep evolving this layout each week (hopefully get a regular format to stick to soon!).. so if you have any suggestions/ideas, please let me know.

Thanks to @kelgura on Twitter for identifying "Fang Island - Life Coach" as the G-7 for me. I had it noted down (along w/the tracks before and after it), but not as having it as part of the G12 for some reason. < ::shakes head:: /> ]

G12 - #11: Plants & Animals - Tom Cruz
[ What? My brain is SO fried today (with the being out #dancingTilDawn thing on Sunday night/morning and all).. or was that the name of the album..

Ok. It's the right song it seems, but I listened & I totally don't recall it.. I'm considering it unconfirmed until I see the G12 list up on

Last week #11: LCD Soundsystem - All I Want

G12 - #12:
[ Yes it was The Lights he said.. But I still don't know what the track was? "New New" sounds familiar/right-ish.. but I don't know for sure.

(Album was Failed Graves not Failed Grades tho.. I might be able to blame it on my hearing, but not likely.. as we all know G mumbles & talks really fast sometimes.. ok.. ALL the time ;)

Last week #12: The Hold Steady - The Sweet Part of the City

[ NOTE: That's the best I've got atm on the missing tracks. Please comment if you have anything I missed! TIA.

I'll have a chance hopefully later tonight sometime to have a listen to the missing tracks to get the rest of the correct info up. ]

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
See above in UPDATE section. More sighing.. I'll get it up when I can.. since it seems I'll be re-doing a WHOLE bunch of work.. in order to get I should also have up tomorrow.. The Strombo Show Playlist: May 16, 2010 (Highlights & Excerpts) section up!
Actually I ALMOST have it done, but too tired to edit properly atm.
Ok.. the (Highlights & Excerpts) sections is done! Still working on the fully "embedded" playlist.. but hopefully tomorrow? That or it'll be like Friday/Sat-ish since I'm going to The Hour on Wed night here & I'm chilling Thursday night! Ta da.
The Strombo Show Playlist: May 16, 2010 (Highlights & Excerpts)
~ I'm still working on the rest of the FULL playlist/"Embedded" layout like I did it up last week up. But I really liked this section for more of the comments, etc. So I kept it.
Think it will be on-going.. (nice way to do the list up in 3 different "posts"/updates as well..)
1. Get the G12 up likely Sunday night/Monday morning.
2. Update with: The Strombo Show Playlist: (Highlights & Excerpts) section.
3. Update with: The Strombo Show Playlist Complete w/G12 "Embedded"
Hope you like this format too..
We had the following tidbits from Sunday..
~ NO Bob Mackowycz's this past Sunday. :(
[ We had no Bob segment on the show this week. I heard via the grapevine that Bob actually wasn't on CBC Radio 2 Morning all last week either, so that probably explains it.. as that meant he wouldn't have been around to record his segment with George. I only usually manage to catch Bob on Radio 2 on Friday morning's, but missed last Friday for some reason.. so I didn't know he was going to be away, or what the reason is.. ]
~ Band of Horses Takeover:
[ As mentioned in the: Sneak Peek.. May 16, 2010 - Band of Horses Takeover.. post: Band of Horses do a "takeover" off the Strombo Show.
BTW... there are 2 "posts" up on
The Strombo Show Website
and also over at CBC Radio 2 Strombo Program Section: Your Strombo Take Over Playlist? (by Li Robbins)
Great, great interview segments & chat.. just like a couple of friends hanging out! We really enjoyed it the Strombo Show Fan Chat on Skype. Granted.. there are some serious hard-core Band of Horses fans in our regular chat crew.. But it was a really great takeover.. more like those are our vote!
George started off playing a few tracks from the band to get us in the mood...
Band of Horses - The Funeral
Band of Horses - Laredo
[ Then there was an interview section and then the band takeover/requests began. Whomever was talking/making this request mentioned "Crystal Gale - Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue". Wow.. I would have LOVED to have heard that song played. ]
1st request from BoH: Cass McCombs - That's That
2nd request from BoH: Crosby, Stills & Nash - Southern Cross
3rd request from BoH: Neil Young - Unknown Legend
[ Absolutely loved this segment where they talked about.. I think it was being on tour with Pearl Jam & how they were listening to the fans sing the entire first verse of Better Man ENTIRELY on their own with just the guitar playing. Wow. Chills. Amazing. I would have loved to have been there. ]
4th request from BoH: Pearl Jam - Better Man
[ Took a break from the requests for some more chatting I believe here.. & to play another of their tracks off the new album: Infinite Arms. I wonder if that is infinite arms, as in peoples arms, or as in weapons.. I'm thinking the former.. but it popped into my mind when I was writing the Sneak Peek Post & looking for the album images to put up here. ]
Band of Horses - On My Way Back Home
5th request from BoH: Chad Vangaalen - Blood Machine
6th request from BoH: Clipse - Dirty Money (Main Version - Explicit)
[ There was at one song in the middle here that I don't think was part of their segment. I didn't catch what is was.. but I'm pretty sure it was by The Flogging Molly's? ]
7th (last) request from BoH: Ween - Exactly Where I'm At.
[ The world of Twitter can be such a wonderful place.. discovered that there is a Fan Blog for Band of Horses out there maintained, etc by: odetoboh <- 16="" abound..="" account.="" b="" be="" believe="" but="" do="" fans="" first="" his="" i="" it="" last="" listening="" may="" new="" on="" past="" show="" strombo="" sunday="" t="" the="" this="" time="" to="" twitter="" was="" won="">Welcome to the fray odetoboh! Perhaps we'll see you in the chat sometime in the future?
His post on the show is here: Recap of Band of Horses on the Strombo Show. He does a fantastic summary of the interview, etc.. so how about I leave it up to him to share his perspectives.
(And, if you haven't seen the show and the boys don't get it up on The Strombo Show Website anytime soon.. at least you have this blog here.. and that blog there with some details of what went down.. ;). ]
[ Ten o'Clock With Tom (background song): Unknown artist - Good Old World (Gypsy Instrumental) If anyone knows who the artist is for this song.. please comment! Thx. ]
~ Ten O'Clock with Tom: Tom Waits - On The Nickel
[ Some old school tracks.. ]
Pure - Anna ('s A Speed Freak :)
G12 - #5: Guilty About Girls - Candy Candy
[ And one that just sounds old school. See above for the links to their mySpace. I'm hunting for more nifty things to share about this band.
I ♥ them A LOT! Yah.. Vancouver!]
G12 - #4: Shad - Yaa I Get It
Beastie Boys - So What'cha Want
Santogold - Say Aha
The Clash - Police On My Back
Junior Murvin - Police & Themes
~ Rich's Picks:
[ In my personal opinion.. I think Rich's picks are getting even better.. he's settling into a comfy groove now.. ]
Rich's Pick #1: Jimi Hendrix - Belly Button Window
Rich's Pick #2:
[ Missed. ]
Rich's Pick #3: [ Also missed.. think I got distracted listening to Rich & George tell stories..but also was doing something else at the same time that I totally missed the songs. ]
[ Saw a guy on Granville Street Sat night.. playing on the street corner ~Robson-ish.. he was playing guitar & singing.. I swear he was kinda Jimi Hendrix reincarnation-ish.. Huge crowd gathered to hang out & watch/listen to him.. I wonder if George saw him? ]
[ Rich talks with G about getting booked for some jazz & folk fests.. I'll track down if/when he's coming to Vancouver and of course.. the Edmonton, Calgary & Winnipeg folk & jazz fests are awesomely massive! Oh.. it's festival season soon! ]
[ A g/f of mine.. Super's has been booked for the Vancouver Jazz Fest.. I know it's kind of incestous, ..but I'm totally going to promote people I know.. I manage this blog.. I can. Details here soon.. I'm tracking them down. ]
[ Missed Rich's other picks.. but gotta love it when you can go from Hendrix to something thrashy to Fats Waller to something heavy to Deftones to Mastodon to Gord Downie! ]
Fats Waller - Mandy
[ Missed a track or 2 in here.. just 1 I think.. ]
Deftones - Diamond Eyes
Mastodon - Divinations
[ BTW. That Mastodon track was a request by the Cancer Bats.. if I recall correctly. Ummm.. Cancer Bats! ]
G12 - #3 - Gord Downie - The East Wind
G12 - #2: Darwin Deez - D.N.A.
G12 - #1: M.I.A. - Born Free
[ Umm... Really?! Seriously!? M.I.A.'s #1. Hmmm.. ok. Well. Just so you know George. We are all rather confused by this G12 ranking in the chat session & while it "may" (I say may) be G12 material, not a one thinks it's a #1. #justSaying. ]
~ "Album Side": The Velvet Underground & Nico
[ The Velvet Underground & Nico is the debut album by American rock band The Velvet Underground and vocal collaborator Nico. It was originally released in March 1967 by Verve Records. Details from the Wikipedia: The Velvet Underground & Nico. ]
Album Side #1: Nico / The Velvet Underground - Sunday Morning
Album Side #2: The Velvet Underground - I'm Waiting For The Man
Album Side #3: Nico / The Velvet Underground - Femme Fatale
Album Side #4: The Velvet Underground - Venus in Furs
Album Side #5: Nico / The Velvet Underground - Run Run Run
Album Side #6: The Velvet Underground - All Tomorrow's Parties
[ The end.. of the "Album Side" anyway. ]
~ The "Big Lie-Down"
As far I can recall.. we went straight from the "Album Side" into the "Big-Lie Down". Actually.. George went right to the midnight hour this time.. barely squeezing in the last 3 tracks of the show..
Here are the last 2 out of 3 tracks of the evening/show!
Now.. 2 outta 3 Ain't Bad... well.. in most situations that is..
[ According to my horoscope on Sunday: No one will get close to you now -- not unless they've fulfilled three very particular requirements. They've got to be seriously sexy, extremely intense and not for the faint of heart -- because you're not going to go for them if you only get two out of three. LOL. But SO true! ]
From the "Big Lie-Down" segment of the show:
Song #1 (The Big Lie-Down): Blue Foundation - Eyes On Fire
Song #2 (The Big Lie-Down):
[ Missed! Again.. if you know.. please comment on the blog below. ]
Song #3 (The Big Lie-Down): The Shivers - Beauty
Oh.. in searching about for links, etc... I came across this post on the CBC Radio 2 Strombo Program Section: Canadian Bands Who Oughta Be On Strombo
There are like 170+ comments.. WOW! I haven't had time to read them all.. but.. seriously.. awesome. Go Canada!
Sneak Peek.. May 16, 2010 - Band of Horses Takeover..
Sneak Peek.. the May 16, 2010: Strombo Show will feature:
Band of Horses Takeover
Yep.. it's up on The Strombo Show Website already.. or the teaser information is...
~~~~~~~~~~~
UPDATE: May 16, 2010; 5:07 PM - PST:
Listening to the Strombo Show on AST during the #Habs game commercial breaks. Not an effective way to do things.. but I'm catching snippets of the Band of Horses interview/chat.. more like a great conversation with friends...

Sounds like a totally amazing show! Can't wait to listen fully later.

Strombo Show Chat on Skype will start at ~7pm PST.. after the #Habs hockey game is over!

Thanks for your understanding and patience today! I don't think we'll have any other conflicts as the next #Habs games are Tues, Thurs & then Sat this week according to my handy CBC HNIC (Hockey Night In Canada) iPhone app!

Don't have the schedule for the following week.. but it'd be likely Mon, Wed, Fri.. if the games go that far.

Ok.. puck drop 2nd period.. checking in later!

~~~~~~~~~~~
UPDATE: May 16, 2010; 6:01 AM - PST:
Strombo Show Chat on Skype will NOT be on at 4pm PST/8pm AST/ 7pm EST.. the hockey game is on! Sorry.. if someone is available to host it instead of me.. who for some reason is not watching hockey.. ping me.. but I may be on after the game.. it all depends on if I'm watching at home or at Lions Pub.. w/the #HabsTweetUp crew from Twitter, etc..
I'm posting now as I just got home from dancing.. and I'll be sleeping soon, not sure when to wake..
~~~~~~~~~~~

Band of Horses do a bit of a takeover on the Strombo Show this coming Sunday (sounds kinda like what MGMT did a few weeks back).

So, I'm betting that there will be an interview & a bunch of songs played.. hopefully they did some live stuff (maybe on The Hour... like Timber Timbre did?!) and we can hear that..

If not, we'll surely hear some tracks off of "Infinite Arms", their newest release, as "Laredo" has been burning up the G12 Countdown for a while now. It was G12 - #3 last week, so I imagine it'll be in the same place or possibly higher (which I'm good with, as honestly.. I'm not really that fond of MIA's track & it needs to be bumped). And I'm guessing we will see some requests as well from the band... always looking forward to that wee bit of awesome & obscure insight into a bands/musicians mind!

And speaking of Timber Timbre & the G12 Countdown ... their live version of "Lay Down In The Tall Grass" that they played on The Hour is spectacular! I'm thinking that that song needs to find it's way into the G12 soon. And hoping to see an interview & takeover from them.. I'm intrigued to find out what they'd have to say.

As well.. George is visiting my fair city.. Vancouver. Right now.
I'm kinda having #heartPalpations as we speak.. lol... (or it could be that I really need to get my thyroid checked out).

I just missed him this afternoon. I was maybe all of about 4-5 blocks away when he posted on Twitter he was @ Japadog.. but I behaved & headed in the direction I was actually intending to head downtown.. which was initially the opposite way, towards Pacific Center and the Apple Store. If I had been heading home right then, I would've gone right past him... into him... ;). Bummer. Oh well.. I'm sure there will be other chance encounters in the next few days/week!

See UPDATES above for current info..
Oh.. I haven't seen a schedule yet for Sunday for the hockey game.. but if there is a Strombo Show AND Habs game time conflict.. the Strombo Show Chat on Skype will be preempted for the hockey game.. or until the game is done, or I get home (if I'm out at The Lions Pub again watching the game)!

If anyone knows or hears before I update the blog.. please post a comment or ping me with details. Thanks muchly. And sorry.. in this case.. #hockey trumps #music ;)

I'm at home.. out till 6am #DancingTillDawn means a nice lazy chill afternoon on my couch to watch the game... not sure I could even walk that far. I made it my local Davie & Denman Starbucks for the last day of Frappicino frenzy and Tim Hortons for a bagel for breakie just before the game..

But hopefully this Thursday, May 20, 2010; 4 pm PST for the game at The Lions Pub (888 West Cordova Street) George? I know you wanna... ;)

I'll let you know if I am at The Lions Pub (888 West Cordova Street).. so you can come hang out with me if you are in Vancouver (hint, hint.. George?!), or you can make other plans to listen, etc..

If there is another person who can moderate the chat for me, I may still set it up, but any new people will HAVE TO CONTACT ME PRIOR as I won't be able to add/monitor Skype from the pub.. on my iPhone.. well.. I might be able to.. but if I'm there & I'm watching that game... I'll be watching the game dammit! I'll have a deadline time once I know the game time, etc.. IF there is a conflict. But damn near everyone in the chat is a hockey fan & a good 1/2 of the chat regulars are Habs fans, so I'm pretty sure they will all be watching the game too!

If we all end up missing the game due to the show.. I will pester someone over there to see if they can get it up on The Strombo Show Website ASAP!

More links & details about Band of Horses, etc to come here as I have moments during the game! tomorrow, or maybe late tonight/wee hours of the morning.. if I get home from my friend's birthday party & have any energy left to write.

GO HABS GO!

Thanks for your patience all, as I get the rest of the bits & pieces & links to go with everything above up here!

George's First Motorcycle Race!

UPDATE:

This "excerpt" was formerly located in the May 09, 2010: The Strombo Show Playlist (& G12 Count Down) post.

We pulled it out into it's own post to make room for the full playlist over there :)

George raced in his first ever motorcycle race on Sunday, May 2nd, 2010 out in Shannonville! (Shannonville Motorsport Park Inc.)

MOST PICTURES AND VIDEOS WERE REMOVED DUE TO BLOG (MESSED UP HTML/HTTPS)/LOADING ERRORS

[ Picture Credit: From George's post on his Twitter account @strombo ]

Here are a couple video's from race day. They are video's that are on-board a couple of the bikes in the race.

The embedded one below is the better one for an actual view of George, but this first one/link is the one he mentions on the radio show & it shows the accident quite clearly (& really quickly)!

Shannonville Round 1 Mayhem
You can see George just in front of the camera bike starting from ~2:03 mins/2:05 mins when the bike stops & then you see G who's the guy waving the camera bike by... at ~ 2:15 mins.

The camera bike is very clearly involved in the accident (it looks like he completely rams right into the stalled bike ~3:06 mins). I wasn't able to find out if the camera guy here, or if anyone else was hurt in the accident. I did hear that ~5 bikes/riders were involved in the crash. (Not much else happens in the video after that point tho.. the camera gets left on/forgotten about for quite some time!)

From what he said on the radio show on Sunday, May 9th, 2010... it appears that George is far enough behind the accident that he sees it and can avoid it. It's hard to tell from this video here if he is right beside the camera guy (to the left of the camera), or behind him.

But from viewing the 2 videos, I'd say that G was far enough to the far left of the crash to easily go around it, or far enough back to stop in time. We know he made it out totally fine and went on to finish the race, finishing 2nd last.. so at least not completely last! YAH!

But.. this is a better link here:
The camera guy is right behind G from the stands (~0:50 - 1:03 mins) until camera bike guy gets in line for the practice lap.

You can just sorta read STROMBO on the back of his jacket and see his green Kawasaki clearly. The bike/camera guy goes past him ~1:00 mins.

[ Caption: Bike is almost ready for next weekend's test days at Shannonville. New graphics thanks to @scurry3369 at AutoTrim. ]
[ Picture Credit: From George's post on his Twitter account @strombo ]

This is during the practice lap & we don't see George again in this video as the camera bike is in front of him. (But you do see the "edge of the accident" as the camera bike clips the stalled bike at ~ 4:50-4:52 mins).

May 09, 2010: The Strombo Show Playlist (& G12 Count Down)

The Strombo Show Playlist [ Mostly complete?! ]
and G12 Count Down [ Updated/Complete ]: May 09, 2010

[ UPDATE: May 13; 2010; ~2:00-ish AM!
Looks like I have most of the playlist up now.. I may have missed 1 or 2 tracks here & there (which I noted in that spot), but it's pretty darn close. ]

The G12 Countdown is for sure confirmed and of course there are George's motorcycle videos!

I've now moved all the motorcycle race stuff to it's own post here: George's First Motorcycle Race! In order to make room for all the playlist stuff I've added.

I was able to tag or note *MOST* of the tracks while listening to the show 2x on Sunday, May 9th. Since I was hosting the chat session as well, I may have missed a few as I was distracted, but as I said above, there is as full/complete a list as I have done below!

Starting in this post (and I'll back-track in time to the other posts in time), all tracks played on the show are in:
Blue and Bold!
So they are easy to view/find/read on the page with all the other notes. Hope that helps!

Any Errors and/or Omissions are totally my fault!
IF.. you have any corrections or info that I'm missing, please comment or ping me & I'll update the blog list!
Thanks. Enjoy.

Feedback, comments, notes, etc are ALWAYS welcome!

And please note.. the G12 Count Down is now up on The Strombo Show Website! What did I say.. by mid-week-ish.. Yah. You heard it here ;)

[ UPDATE May 12, 2010; ~12:11am:
Thanks to @kelgura for some posts on Twitter to help me with a few of the G12 tracks I was still confirming and for letting me know that Exclaim.ca had the D/L of "The Flatliners - Carry The Banner".

Seems I had everything except "The Flatliners - Carry The Banner" & I was in the process of listening to their mySpace page (link above) to track it down.

As well.. it looks like the full G12 is now up on The Strombo Show Website, so I confirmed there as well for accuracy! (I'm guessing thanks to Darby for that update are in order. All Hail King Darby! ;) ]

The Strombo Show Playlist: May 09, 2010 (Highlights & Excerpts)

~ The rest of it should be relatively complete below! I kept this section in for more of the comments, etc.

With the following tidbits..

~ Bob Mackowycz's Mother's Day picks, sorta...
[ (A Sad-off... that I think I totally missed somehow.. both times?!
I actually don't think they did it... but they talked about. I'm confused here.) ]

And some Mother's Day picks for both Bob's mom, and his wife Sandra who became a new mom this year with their new baby girl, or I think the song was actually for his daughter.. as she likes it.

[ If you missed the actual show, I'll explain later why the next 3-4 songs were played. ]

Prince - Bat Dance
Pulp - This Is Hardcore
Busta Rhymes - Woo-Hah!! Got You All In Check
[ Acappella ver. I think ]

Great Lake Swimmers - Pulling On A Line

~ Ten O'Clock with Tom: Tom Waits - Soldier's Things

~ George's Mom: George calls his Mom to wish her Happy Mother's Day and to get a request from her (very funny actually).
He plays: Jim Reeves - Four Walls .. for her.. [ but she first asked him to play "Kate Smith - God Bless America" and he laughed.. A LOT and refused! Funniest thing of the evening.. in my opinion... ]

~ Rich's Picks: for an interesting Sunday night historical journey into New York City, 1987 rap, etc
[ FYI. In case you are listening to the show once it is posted up & you have younger kids around.. It was just @oldschoolgirl (Sarah) & StromboShowChat Collective team in the chat.. and we were just wondering.. if anyone on CBCRadio2 has said 'blowjob' before? Just curious. LMAO! };> ]

[ If I recall correctly, this was just an audible they called before Rich's picks. In reference to NYC... ]
The Ramones - 53rd & 3rd

PJ Harvey - The Garden
Cash Money & Marvellous - Ugly People Be Quiet
[ Ok, I'm pretty sure this is the right song. I just don't remember G & Rich saying the name, but do I recall the Tears For Fears sample @ the start! ]

[ So they'd call an audible and played this "classic": ]

Tears For Fears - Head Over Heels

[ And this next song, was a song Rich wanted to always hear/request on the radio. ]
Joy Division - She Lost Control

~ An educational, historical, & awesome "Album Side": Soul Rebels - Bob Marley & The Wailers

[ Soul Rebels is an album by The Wailers, their first album to be released outside of Jamaica. Plenty more information over at the Wikipedia on Soul Rebel. ]

Bob Marley & The Wailers - Soul Rebel
Bob Marley & The Wailers - Try Me
Bob Marley & The Wailers - It's Alright **

[ ** It was later re-recorded and retitled "Night Shift" for Rastaman Vibration. ]
Bob Marley & The Wailers - No Sympathy
[ (Also credited to/with Peter Tosh) ]
Bob Marley & The Wailers - My Cup
[ (Also credited to/with Bob Marley/Lee "Scratch" Perry) ]
Bob Marley & The Wailers - Soul Almighty

~ A lovely "Big-Lie Down" with a request for a regular listener of the Strombo Show (Alex), a regular visitor to the tapings of The Hour.. and of course a regular participant in this Strombo Show Chat (altho she was traveling w/her family on Sunday night listening in the car, so couldn't join us on-line in the chat session on Sunday night).

As far I can recall.. we went straight from the "Album Side" into the "Big-Lie Down".

Here are the last 3 tracks of the evening/show!

From the "Big-Lie Down" segment of the show:

Iron & Wine - Upward Over The Mountain
[ As mentioned in the: Upward Over The Mountain ~ A Sneaky Peek At May 9, 2010 Strombo Show post. ]
Spiritualized - Cool Waves
Cat Powers - Woman Left Lonely
